icono Our Mission

Monitor and Witness

Observe politically or socially tense situations to reduce the threat of violence and obtain a truthful story of events. Through example of experienced LICADHO monitors and personnel we become efficient monitors/observers for various events including trials, demonstrations, political rallies, municipal elections, national elections, International Human Rights Day, International Labour Day and attempted evictions.

LICADHO Canada will also provide protective accompaniment in situations where the threat of violence cannot be reduced by monitoring alone.

Networking and Capacity Building

Connect people, communities, and organizations/groups together with the aim of capacity building, resource sharing, and empowerment. LICADHO Canada stands in Solidarity with many sectors of society, including grassroots organizations, unions, students, non-violent activists, and traditional artists and musicians. We seek to bridge these sectors through common goals and a focus on people power.

Sometimes these connections are as simple as bringing village leaders together with legal aid lawyers. In other incidences it’s about bringing groups together to plan children’s festivals, freedom song production, and/or training of skills which further empower and unite people and communities.

Awareness and Advocacy

Inform the international community about Cambodian human rights issue and encourage positive action to support Cambodia and all oppressed nations. LICADHO Canada provides information to members, partners and media including newsletters, information packages, documentaries, reports, web-links, human rights t-shirts, net-working, petitions, songs and appeals. We have a firm commitment to convince the international government to reevaluate their responsibilities and approach to Cambodia.
