Since 2006, LC has worked and continues to work with Dey Krahorm community.
Dey Krahorm is renowned for staging the longest non-violent resistance efforts to unlawful eviction in Phnom Penh, January 2005 - January 2009.
Despite their violent eviction on January 24th, 2009, Dey Krahorm continues to be a supportive voice for threatened communities around Cambodia through their spokesperson Chan Vichet.
Vichet, nominated in 2008 for the Centre of Housing Rights and Eviction (COHRE) Land Rights Defender Award, has met with key Embassies and UN agencies in Cambodia, addressed the 2009 meeting of United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in Switzerland, and most recently was invited by Front Line to the 5th Dublin Platform for Human Rights Defenders in 2010.
Dey Krahorm continues to remember the loss of their community and call for justice every year on the anniversary of the violent eviction of January 24, 2009.
Three other key Dey Krahorm leaders continue to support other communities through their work with LC as Community Consultants.
